Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police say early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for information.

An important representative said the vandalism left him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
