Raducanu made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year due to the illness she has been fighting in recent days.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

These plans will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

She was also playing noticeably restricted in the final set in the match with Zhu because of the lower back problem that has troubled her during parts of the season.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
